What a weekend of Premier League football Game week 2 was, 44 goals were scored across the match week which is a new record for a Premier League Match week, 4 games produced produced 6 or more goals and 4 red cards were given through the match week. We now take a look at Match week 3 hoping for as much excitement as the last.

Previews:

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester United – Saturday 26 September, 12:30pm

Brighton bounced back from their loss against Chelsea with a comfortable 3-0 win away at Newcastle, The Seagulls have started the season off well and will hope to continue in that vein on Saturday. Opponents United had their 14 game unbeaten run ended last week at the hands of Crystal Palace and they will want a better result against a Brighton side they beat both home and away in the league last season. United haven’t fared well at the Amex recently winning 1 and losing 2 of their last 3 visits to the ground.

Prediction: Brighton & Hove Albion 1-2 Manchester United

Crystal Palace vs Everton – Saturday 26 September, 3:00pm

Two teams with an 100% record face off at Selhurst Park on Saturday as Crystal Palace take on Everton. Roy Hodgson’s men have been impressive so far this term defeating Southampton then Manchester United at Old Trafford last week, Everton have defeated Tottenham and West Brom enroute to picking up 2 wins from 2,Crystal Palace haven’t beaten Everton in their last 10 league meetings and have also failed to beat them at Selhurst Park since 1994.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-1 Everton

West Bromwich Albion vs Chelsea – Saturday 26 September, 5:30pm

Newly Promoted West Brom are already having a tough time of things back in the top flight with the Baggies losing their first two games and conceding 8 goals in the process, They will need to start getting results fast if they want to avoid the drop this season. Chelsea lost last week against Champions Liverpool and will be keen to get their season back on track by taking all 3 points here. Chelsea though haven’t fared well on recent visits to the Hawthorns winning 1 and losing 2 of their last 3 visits to the ground.

Prediction: West Bromwich Albion 1-3 Chelsea

Burnley vs Southampton – Saturday 26 September, 8:00pm

It hasn’t been a great start for both Burnley and Southampton, They have both lost all of their games so far this term, Improvements are certainly needed by both teams as they aim to get their season on track, Burnley will be feeling the more confident of the two coming into this clash as they haven’t lost to Southampton in all competitions since 2016 and the Saints have also failed to win at Turf Moor since 2007.

Prediction: Burnley 1-1 Southampton

Sheffield United vs Leeds United – Sunday 27 September, 12:00pm

Sheffield United have had a poor start to the season so far losing their first 2 games without scoring a goal, The Blades will need to vastly improve and will be aiming for all 3 points at home against

newly promoted Leeds. Leeds United have had a roller-coaster start to life in the top flight winning one and losing one of their first two games, They are the highest scorers in the competition so far with 7 goals but they have also conceded 7 from their opening two games. Sheffield will fancy getting their first points of the season against Leeds though as they have only lost twice at home to Leeds in the last 30 years.

Prediction: Sheffield United 1-1 Leeds United

Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle United – Sunday 27 September, 2:00pm

Tottenham bounced back from their matchweek one defeat against Everton with a resounding 5-2 victory against Southampton. Newcastle deservedly lost at home to Brighton last week and they will hope to give a better showing similar to that of their first away victory when they defeated West Ham 2-0. Newcastle will fancy a chance of an upset as they beat Spurs at home last season and interestingly the away side has won 9 of the last 13 clashes between both sides.

Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Newcastle United

Manchester City vs Leicester City – Sunday 27 September, 4:30pm

Manchester City started their season with a 3-1 victory against Wolves last weekend and know that they can’t drop any points early on as they bid to regain the Premier League title from Liverpool. Leicester are the early season leaders of the league with the Foxes winning their first two games and scoring 7 goals in the process. Man city are favorites for this clash having beaten Leicester on each of their last 4 visits to the Etihad stadium, Leicester have also failed to beat City in September since 1958.

Prediction: Manchester City 3-1 Leicester City

West Ham vs Wolverhampton Wanderers – Sunday 27 September, 7:00pm

West Ham will have been disappointed not to get at least a point against Arsenal last week after playing well for long spells in the game, But that is 2 losses to start the season for the Hammers and they will be hoping to get their first points of the season against Wolves on Saturday evening. Wolves might have lost against Man city on Monday but Nuno will have been pleased with the performance of his boys. Wolves will fancy themselves to get all 3 points at the London stadium as they have won their last 4 league meetings against West Ham without conceding a single goal.

West Ham 1-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers

Fulham vs Aston Villa – Monday 28 September, 6:00pm

Newly promoted Fulham have lost both games back in the league so far this season conceding a minimum of 3 goals in both games, They will need to be better and will hope to get their first points of the season in their bid to avoid relegation this season. Aston Villa started their campaign with a win against Sheffield United on Monday and are now the only team yet to concede in the league this season, and that was courtesy of new goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez who saved a penalty on his debut. Villa will see this as a chance to get all three points as they had a good record against promotion sides in the league last season.

Prediction: Fulham 2-1 Aston Villa

Liverpool vs Arsenal – Monday 28 September, 8:00pm

The game of the round comes at Anfield on Monday night as the Champions Liverpool host Arsenal, Liverpool have started the defence of their title in fine form defeating both Leeds and Chelsea to claim 2 wins out of 2. Arsenal have also won both of their opening games against Fulham and West Ham.

Liverpool are considered heavy favourites to preserve their 100% start to the season as they haven’t lost a league game at Anfield since 2017 and Arsenal have also failed to win at Anfield since 2012. The Gunners though will be quietly confident of an upset having beaten Liverpool in their last 2 meetings in all competitions.

Prediction: Liverpool 2-2 Arsenal
