The “Thor” actor posted a video revealing his generous pledge on Monday and also encouraged his fans to send support to Australia as well. Turning the camera on himself to speak to his followers, Chris Hemsworth spoke from the heart about the devastating fires that have already taken the lives of over 20 people.

“Hi everyone. Like you, I want to support the fight against the bushfires here in Australia. My family and I are contributing a million dollars,” he captioned the video. “Hopefully you guys can chip in too. Every penny counts so whatever you can muster up is greatly appreciated.” Chris Hemsworth also included links so that followers can donate to firefighters, organizations and charities “who are working flat out to provide support and relief during this devastating and challenging time.” He made sure to include a heartfelt message to those working around the clock to fight the bushfires. “Beyond appreciative to everyone around the world for their well wishes and donations. It really does make a difference, so dig deep! Love ya,” he wrote.

Australian natives Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban announced they were matching Pink and also pledging $500k on Saturday. Rebel Wilson, who hails from Sydney, raised $50k for the wildfires after auctioning off two lunches with her. Other celebrities talking about the wildfires include Selena Gomez, Naomi Watts, Kim Kardashian and her sister, Kylie Jenner, although the young billionaire’s post backfired miserably.
