Shifting priorities in ‘Black Lightning’ season 3 episode 7
Black Lightning season 3 episode 7 starts off with Grace Choi unable to control her shapeshifting abilities. She is, therefore, in her younger form and is making a video to try to calm herself down. Anissa Pierce then comes in and helps Grace calm down using a relaxation technique. Grace is still somewhat worried, though, even once she can control her shifting, about the A.S.A. finding her.
Anissa assures Grace that she won’t let the A.S.A. take her but Grace is still worried. She asks Anissa if she’s gotten her powers back yet, and Anissa says nothing because she hasn’t. Meanwhile, Jennifer Pierce looks at old pictures of Khalil Payne while Agent Odell texts her. Gambi, at the same time, has confirmed that Khalil and Painkiller are the same person and asks Lynn to help him get into the Pit so he can get access to the A.S.A’s mainframe.
Jennifer’s grounded, literally, in ‘Black Lightning’ season 3 episode 7
Jennifer goes to meet who she assumes is Agent Odell but meets the acting director of the A.S.A instead. The woman tells her that Agent Odell has been shot and is severely wounded, but not dead. He certainly seemed dead in season 3 episode 6 of Black Lightning, though it is definitely possible that he was saved by Black Lightning in time. The acting director tells Jennifer that she can’t use her powers because of the Markovian threat.
Jennifer doesn’t like being grounded and doesn’t really trust the woman who is now in charge of the A.S.A’s operations in Freeland. She asks for the A.S.A’s file on Doctor Jace, which she might want to use to help Brandon find her. Meanwhile, the resistance against the A.S.A. makes their next move with Chief Henderson and Reverend Holt waiting for a bomb to go off so that they can drive past the A.S.A. Black Lightning, however, puts a stop to their plans by defusing the bomb.
Disagreements on methods and a heartwarming rescue
Henderson doesn’t like Black Lightning’s interference, and he goes to Jefferson’s house to confront him about ruining the resistance’s plan. The two men argue about the best method to use to deal with the A.S.A. Jefferson is not okay with the somewhat violent methods used by Henderson or the fact that his friend is keeping a secret from him. Jefferson reminds Henderson how upset he was when he found out Jefferson was Black Lightning.
Meanwhile, Lynn is granted access to the files of the metahumans she is looking after, but only the Green Light children. She later gets Gambi into the mainframe and the two of them discover Khalil/Painkiller is being kept in stasis. Gambi and Lynn disagree about what to do about Khalil/Painkiller, with Lynn wanting to save him and help him regain access to his memories and Gambi wanting to stop him before he hurts anyone else.
Black Lightning season 3 episode 7 is also full of action. Anissa brings Grace to her father Black Lightning, asking him to take her and the rest of the metahuman children out of Freeland since she hasn’t gotten her powers back yet. This leads to a battle between Black Lightning and the A.S.A. soldiers, led by the acting director, who try to kill the kids but are stopped by Black Lightning. In the chaos, Grace runs away and Black Lightning goes after her.
This leads to a heartwarming scene where Grace hugs Black Lightning and is relieved to see that he’s come for her.
